Lesson Description:
What if everything we think we know about spiritual growth is missing a critical piece? In this lesson, we come face to face with a sobering truth: spiritual habits can actually become spiritual deception when they are not paired with genuine obedience. Drawing from Isaiah 58, we see a striking picture of people who are fasting, praying, and seeking God, yet receiving no answer. God's response cuts straight to the heart. He is not looking for more religious activity. He is looking for real, measurable acts of obedience that flow from what we read and pray and worship. The disciplines we have been building, the quiet times, the memory verses, the prayer life, are not ends in themselves. They are meant to move us toward action. If we are doing all of this while quietly holding onto sin or selfish motives, we are not growing. We are hiding. And God will not be manipulated. This is a challenging but freeing word for anyone who has ever wondered why their spiritual life feels stuck.
